Parking & Access
There is plenty of parking available. We have fenced off an area on the verge of Greendale Road for diagonal parking.
The field is wheelchair accessible however it is a paddock and may be a bit of (semi) steep and bumpy ride.
What to Wear
We recommend you wear closed toed shoes as you will be walking around a paddock. It can get quite dusty and quite muddy depending on the weather.
On warmer days please ensure you wear plenty of Sunscreen and a hat as there is limited shade in the field.
On cooler days please remember to bring a jacket as it can get quite fresh.
What to Bring
Secateurs:
Sunflowers need to be cut with secateurs. So please bring a pair of secateurs.
Secateurs are available for hire at $2.00 a pair.
You may want to bring something to wrap your sunflowers in as the stems are quite hairy and may cause discomfort for some. (We suggest newspaper or the like)
Wildlife
Be alert to Bees as they love sunflower pollen.
Please be alert to our ground dwelling residents also.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead at all times. Please be respectful of our land and of the area and your fellow pickers by picking up after your dog. Note also this is a working farm and there is livestock in the adjoining paddocks which can be exciting for some K nines.
Food, Drinks
There is no food available in the field. We do have cold water and softdrinks available for purchase.
We encourage you explore the region and taste the local fare at one of the many amazing venues. We recommend:
Myrniong:
St Anne's Winery (Myrniong)
Greendale:
The Greendale Pub
Ballan:
Wine and Cheese Deli, The Tin Plate Café, Zest Café, Slippery's Seafood for fabulous Fish and Chips, Fabulous Flowers Café, Ballan Bakery
Boutique shops in Ballan:
The Skin Inn, Grass is Greener, Noddy’s Cottage
A Couple of Rules
